ProVeg International will be holding a press conference on Wednesday, 20 November under the title: “Paving change or feeding illusions: Food systems and the FAO 1.5 Roadmap”.

The press conference takes place from 10am to 10.30am (Baku time) at Natavan, Area E, in the Blue Zone of the COP29 summit.

At its launch at COP28, the FAO’s Roadmap Part 1 Global Roadmap was welcomed as a potential tool to help drive sustainable food policies, but was also met with criticism from the science community, food actors and civil society.

The much-anticipated Part 2 was intended to be launched at COP29, laying out a regional focus to align food systems with climate goals.

This press conference will discuss whether the existing iteration of the Roadmap is able to deliver the goal of aligning food systems with climate change objectives (recommendations) and shed light on any remaining gaps and areas where the Roadmap needs to be strengthened to deliver a sustainable, inclusive, equitable and healthy food system.
