COP29: ProVeg to host food systems and adaption policy debate

ProVeg International and partner, CGIAR, will host a “fireside chat” with policymakers at COP29, the UN climate summit, on Thursday, 14 November

Food awareness organization, ProVeg International, will be hosting a “fireside chat” with key policymakers involved in agriculture and climate adaptation negotiations at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan on Thursday, 14 November.

In partnership with research network, CGIAR, the discussion will take place from 9am to 10am (Baku time) in the Policy Zone of the Action on Food Hub Pavilion, which is situated in the Blue Zone.

Speakers will share their views on the current status of negotiations, key challenges, and opportunities for advancing resilient and sustainable agricultural practices.

The session will offer a view into the ongoing efforts shaping the future of sustainable food systems and adaptation policies, particularly in light of the Emirates Declaration on Food and Agriculture, signed by 159 countries at COP28.

But the conversation will also acknowledge that the official UNFCCC processes i.e., the party negotiations, have not taken on a food systems approach. All the food systems discussions are happening outside the negotiations and ProVeg is calling for shift in gear.
