The United Nations World Wildlife Day is celebrated every year on March 3rd. It’s a day when we recognise and celebrate wildlife’s incredible contribution to people and the planet.
From our wonderful woodlands to coral reefs, wild animals and plants hold incredible value. As essential parts of Earth’s intricate web of life, they sustain ecosystems, regulate natural processes, and support biodiversity. People everywhere rely on this wildlife to meet our needs – from food, to fuel, medicines, housing, and clothing.
For us to enjoy the benefits and the beauty that nature brings us and our planet, we all must make sure ecosystems thrive and plant and animal species can exist for future generations. So, let’s celebrate wildlife and how we can help look after it!
Our School Plates programme already helps schools and caterers protect the planet through more sustainable menus, but we saw a huge opportunity to better inspire and educate the change-makers of the future – children.
Schools can now use our free teaching materials to engage students in meaningful conversations about planet-friendly food with our Canteen to Classroom education resources. We want to encourage teachers to download our Pro Animals and Pro Environment lesson plans to educate children about where our food comes from and its impact on our planet’s natural world and biodiversity. Let’s empower children to connect their food choices with supporting wildlife and the planet.
