On February 9th, we celebrated World Pizza Day by sharing some of our favourite pizza spots in South Africa. We then set out to make our vegan pizzas. Armed with pizza bases, toppings and vegan mozzarella, we tried and tasted a variety of combinations to now bring you 5 Vegan Pizza ideas to try at home.

Choosing Cheese for Your Vegan Pizza

We tried and tested 4 vegan cheese options on World Pizza Day. You have an option to chop your vegan cheese into small blocks or grate to cover your pizza base. * Violife Mozzarella * Irene’s Gourmet Meltme Style Cheese * Le Coquin Dairy-Free Mozzarella Flavour Cheese * Earth & Co Mozzarella Cheese[vc_icon icon_fontawesome=”fab fa-pagelines” color=”green” align=”center”]

Healthy Falafel and Pesto Vegan Pizza

On a pizza base of your choice:  * Slather a generous helping of pizza sauce * Cover with fresh tomato slices, mushrooms and sautéed peppers * Add dollops of Pesto Princess basil pesto * Top with halved falafel and sliced avo * Sprinkle with oregano * Bake at 180’C for 15-20 minutes until crisp. Spicy Mexican Vegan Pizza

On a pizza base of your choice:  * Slather a generous helping of pizza sauce * Cover with grated vegan mozzarella * Top with Beyond Meat Spicy Italian Sausage rounds, sweet corn and beans * Add a layer of sauteed peppers, fresh chili and avo * Sprinkle with oregano * Bake at 180’C for 15-20 minutes until crisp. Creamy “Chicken” Mayo Pizza

On a pizza base of your choice:  * Slather a generous helping of pizza sauce * Top with cubes of vegan mozzarella * Generously spread a mixture of shredded On The Green Side Smoky BBQ fillets and B-well mayonnaise * Top with diced red onion and bake at 180’C for 15-20 minutes until crisp. * Remove, season again with basil, salt and pepper if necessary and serve immediately.[vc_icon icon_fontawesome=”fab fa-pagelines” color=”green” align=”center”]

Meat Lovers Pizza

On a pizza base of your choice:  * Slather a generous helping of pizza sauce * Layer with cubed vegan mozzarella * Top with Beyond Meat Spicy Italian Sausage rounds, sliced Fry’s Asian Spiced Burgers, cubed Vegan Butcherie Chicken Kebabs and Herbivohr vacon * Add a layer of grated vegan mozzarella * Season with salt and pepper * Bake at 180’C for 15-20 minutes until crisp. Bella Butternut and Olive

On a pizza base of your choice:  * Slather a generous helping of pizza sauce * Add a layer of vegan mozzarella and sliced fresh tomatoes * Top with cubed butternut, fresh red onion and pipped olives * Season with salt and pepper * Bake at 180’C for 15-20 minutes until crisp. * Remove, layer with fresh rocket. * Season again with salt and pepper if necessary and serve immediately.[vc_icon icon_fontawesome=”fab fa-pagelines” color=”green” align=”center”]
