Everything you need for a Plant-Based Braai Broodjie

Food brings community together, and ProVeg SA is sharing everything might you need to prepare a plant-based Braai Day feast for your friends and family. Enjoy Heritage day with a sizzling vegan cheese Braai Broodjie! 

Create your own plant-based Braai Broodjie

It’s so easy to create plant-based Braai Broodjies for the whole family! Most bread you will find is vegan, but always take a look at the label to double check. Simply spread butter on either side of your sliced bread. For an extra crisp, add a little bit of mayo on the outside of the bread that will be in contact with the braai grid. Slice vegan cheese, and layer it with freshly sliced tomato and onion. Spread a little extra pesto inside before putting it on the braai grid and grilling the sandwich on either side. These are a fantastic option to offer to make for a group of people. Most omnivores won’t taste the difference in ingredients, and will be surprised at how much they enjoy a plant-based alternative!
