A new range of vegan mayonnaise in time for Veganuary

January marks an important time of the year for all things plant-based. The food industry has the task of supporting over a million individuals who pledge vegan for Veganuary. Easy replacements for regular ingredients like mayonnaise are in high demand to support a smooth transition towards a fully plant-based diet.

Is Mayonnaise Vegan?

Traditionally, mayonnaise is not vegan. Regular mayonnaise is an emulsion of oil, lemon juice or vinegar and eggs. Vegans choose not to eat any animal by-products, which excludes eggs from their diet. However, many plant-based chefs have proven that you don’t need to include eggs in order to make a creamy, tangy and delicious mayonnaise.

Vegan Mayonnaise as an essential ingredient

On Heritage Day, ProVeg South Africa celebrated with an epic plant-based braai. Vegan mayonnaise was an essential ingredient when preparing our authentic South African dishes such as potato salad and braai broodjies. Click on their links to find the recipes we used!

Veganuary drives new vegan product launches

Veganuary, a pledge to try a vegan diet for the month of January, helps many people across the globe transition to a plant-based diet. Veganuary has had over 1 million sign-ups since the start of their campaign in 2014! Easy replacements for regular ingredients are key to a smooth transition. B-well mayo has launched a new range of vegan mayonnaise flavours just in time for Veganuary 2021 – Garlicnaise, Chillinaise and Lemon Zest!
