Welcome to our 2024 Impact Report

We are delighted to share the highlights of another transformative year for ProVeg International. In 2024, we expanded our global reach with the launch of offices in Brazil and Portugal, strengthening our presence to 14 countries across five continents. These new additions are pivotal as we drive food-system transformation in regions with unique challenges and opportunities, from the Amazon to the European Union.

This year also saw ProVeg engaging on the world stage at key events, including COP29 in Azerbaijan, where we continued to champion plant-based solutions as critical tools for tackling the climate crisis. Our work with global partners, policymakers, and grassroots organisations has reinforced our efforts in building a more sustainable and equitable food future.

From fostering innovation through our ProVeg Incubator and Food Innovation Challenge to supporting changemakers via our Grants and Kickstarting for Good programmes, 2024 has been a year of bold action and meaningful progress.

As we look ahead to 2025, your support remains integral to our mission. Together, we can continue to reduce reliance on animal-based products, inspire millions to embrace plant-based diets, and transform the global food system for the better.

Thanks to your generous support, our pioneering School Plates programme grew faster in 2024 than in any previous year, helping us to be longlisted for the 2025 Food Planet Prize, the world’s biggest environmental award.

Now working with 91 major school caterers, adding 27 new partners during the year, we’re making menus healthier and more planet-friendly in over 8,000 schools for around 1.3 million children daily.

We helped an estimated 22.4 million school meals become meat-free or plant-based this year, almost doubling our impact of last year. Our estimated overall impact is now 47.3 million meals swapped.

This year saw the launch of our new educational programme, Canteen to Classroom, to teach children in schools about the food they eat: where it comes from, how it’s made, and its health and environmental impact.

Teachers in primary schools can now download and use our 24 lesson plans and accompanying materials. Since its launch in September, we have already reached 300 children.

Beyond the UK, we expanded the Global Plant-based School Food Network to 80 organisations from 54 countries (up from 35 last year) that now have a platform to share learnings and challenges to improve school food internationally.

Next year, our focus in schools will be on the UK’s largest school catering companies. This will include the launch of the first-ever School Plates Contract Caterer Ranking, assessing and publicly scoring the top 25 contract school caterers. Our training strategy will also shift towards a new e-learning platform with video content for broader reach and accessibility.

Outside of schools, we will also launch a brand new programme, Hospital Plates, to bring healthier and more planet-friendly meals to patients across the country.

Thank you for your ongoing support to make this all possible!
