Bake the world a better place in 2019

What you eat can change the world. More and more people are choosing a plant-based diet, which has huge benefits for our health, the environment and animal welfare. Celebrate everything that’s great about vegan cooking by joining this year’s Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale, taking place 15-30 April! Bake your own delicious vegan goodies and raise money for your chosen animal charity.

From the kitchen tables of Cape Town to the bakers’ ovens of Berlin, hundreds of dedicated vegan bakers across the world are getting ready. Grab your apron, a muffin, or a slice of strudel, and get ready to be part of a worldwide celebration of plant-based treats.

The WVBS story

It all started way back in 2009, when the first ever Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale brought together hundreds of dedicated bakers of plant-based food. Raising almost half a million dollars for charity since then, with bake sales taking place in 27 different countries, the event has become one of the biggest plant-based celebrations in the world!

How to get involved

Whether you’re a group of friends who want to set up their own stall, a bakery, or a coffee shop, everyone is invited to the party. It’s easy to get involved. The only rule is that everything for sale must be plant-based – no eggs, no dairy, no animal products – but any other delicious ingredient in your pantry. There are four easy steps to follow in order to take part in the event:

Sign here

Let us know you’re taking part, and we’ll add you to the global community of vegan bakers on the official WVBS 2019 World Map.

Be prepared

You can have a bake sale in your backyard or out on the beach, but you have to let everyone know about it. We’ll send you a planning toolkit with all the essentials to get you started. Share your event online or make posters to stick up around the neighborhood.

Keep track

Sharing fantastic vegan food is the most important part of the day, but please keep a record of the day’s events. Let us know how many cakes you sold, how much was raised, and which charities you supported on the day.

Let’s go!

There are hundreds of fantastic vegan recipes to discover – or better still, create your own. Bring the delights of vegan baking to your community, both online and off, by tagging your photos on social media with the hashtags #worldwideveganbakesale and #eatvegancake.

Vegan kitchen secrets

Anyone can be a vegan baker, even if you’ve never tried your hand at it before. Mix flour with soaked flaxseed and mashed bananas, as an alternative to egg, to create a springy dough. Or try using applesauce! Instead of butter, use oils, or nut spreads. Experiment, get creative, and discover the wonderful world of plant-based baking.

Taking part in the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale is a meaningful way to have fun with great tasting plant-based recipes, but if you can’t plan a bake sale this year, don’t worry! You can still join in by enjoying a yummy store-bought vegan cake or savoring your own baked goods at home. Share some photos of your plant-based treats on social media with the hashtag #eatvegancake. You can still make a difference by showing the world just how sweet and easy eating plant-based can be!
