Who is the future consumer of plant-based alternatives?
Answers to this and other questions will be provided by Elsa Guadarrama, Consumer & Market Research Manager at ProVeg. Additionally, Deniz Ficicioglu of BettaF!sh and Verena Wiederkehr of Billa will share their experiences of what strategies have worked in retail and how to satisfy customer needs. Plant-based in the out-of-home market
With almost 40 million meals consumed outside the home every day in Germany alone1 – from canteens to hospitals and cafeterias – the out-of-home market is playing a key role in transforming our food system. Together with Govinda Thaler, CEO and founder of Planet V, a leading manufacturer of plant-based convenience food for public institutions, we look at current trends, developments, and best-practice experiences in community catering, an important segment of the out-of-home market.
Shrimp made from algae, 3D-printed meat, bacon made from mushrooms, and vegan dog food were some of the products that excited guests at the 2022 edition of the New Food Conference.
Cultivated meat: where do we stand today?
Although still in the development stage, cultivated meat received its first approval in the USA in June 2023, the second country after Singapore, marking another significant milestone.2 Nicolas Bureau, Director of Cellular Agriculture France, will present the current figures for cultivated-meat production as well as providing an overview of the trends and challenges for the next two years, including an analysis of market potential and consumer acceptance. Ivo Rzegotta, Public Affairs Manager of the Good Food Institute Europe, will compare the admission procedures for novel foods in Asia, Europe, and the USA.
Get a first taste
In the NFC exhibition space, food-industry pioneers will be presenting their products and services for sampling, giving NFC delegates a taste of the future. Guests will also have the chance to talk to representatives from cutting-edge companies such as Planteneers, Lidl, and Multivac about their positioning in the sector, while several startups, including Bosque Foods and Cultimate Foods, will discuss their upcoming innovations.
For the first time, exhibitors’ products will be integrated into the conference catering, giving NFC guests a firsthand experience of the ways in which plant-based meat and cheese alternatives can be added to catering and restaurant menus.
