ProVeg increases impact by gaining permanent observer status at UNFCCC

Following an 18-month application process, we are happy to announce that ProVeg have become an official observer organization to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, granting us access to key events at all future UN Climate Change Conferences.

This means that, at the next UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), we will be able to register our own delegation and play an active part in negotiations, ensuring that the link between diet change and climate change stays firmly on the agenda.

“The link between our diets and climate change has been ignored for far too long. It’s time to act now.”

This status also enables us to co-organise side events with partner organizations and decide freely on topics and speakers, meaning we are in a leading position to steer conversation and related actions to transform our agriculture and food systems.

After the ineffectiveness of last year’s UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid, this year’s event is more crucial than ever in creating urgent and impactful action to avert the climate crisis. We are thrilled to be playing a recognized role in making this happen at COP26 in November.
