EU-Funded Projects
ProVeg is a committed and experienced partner in EU-funded projects that aim to transform the food system in line with European sustainability, health, and innovation goals. By working alongside academic institutions, industry leaders, public bodies, and civil society organizations, we contribute to collaborative efforts that advance plant-based solutions across the continent.
We focus on activities such as public engagement, policy advocacy, stakeholder dialogue, food innovation, and education. Through these projects, we help to reduce the consumption of animal-based products and promote more sustainable and healthy diets. As an international food awareness organization, ProVeg brings unique expertise in consumer research, strategic communication, and multi-sector collaboration. We support the development and dissemination of impactful tools, campaigns, and policies that align with the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork strategy, and broader climate and public health objectives.
By partnering in EU-funded projects, ProVeg actively contributes to building a food system that is better for people, animals, and the planet.

Smart Protein Project
Expand and improve your product range
The Smart Protein project is a four-year collaboration between 33 partners across 21 countries to develop novel proteins.
ProVeg works closely with all the Smart Protein partners and is responsible for communication and messaging around the project, as well as contributing to market and consumer research.
The multipronged approach explores the potential of:

Beans

Lentils

Chickpeas

Quinoa
with a focus on improving the structure, taste, and flavor, as well as looking at the upcycling of waste-streams from pasta, bread, and beer production – ingredients that are not currently widely used in food production but which have great protein potential.
