Press conference in the Blue Zone of COP30 will look at how Governments can accelerate a transition to climate-friendly food production and consumption
A press conference on tools and commitments for Governments to transition to more climate-friendly food systems is being held in the Blue Zone of COP30 in Belém, Brazil on Saturday, 15 November from 2pm to 2.30pm local time.
The press conference will present the Belém Declaration on Plant-Rich Diets, which calls on UN Member States to draft comprehensive Action Plans for Plant-Based Foods to accelerate societies towards more plant-rich diets.
The conference will also unveil a “Diets Toolkit” that provides guidance and examples of policies that can be implemented to encourage greater consumption of plant-based food, , such as in the area of subsidies and public procurement.
Speakers include Rasmus Langhoff, head of the Danish Parliament’s delegation to COP30, who will talk about how Denmark became the first country in the world to implement an Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods.
Also speaking will be Enric Noguera, UN Affairs Co-ordinator at Plant Based Treaty, Juliette Tronchon, ProVeg Head of UN Affairs, Stephanie Maw, Senior UN Policy and Advocacy Manager at ProVeg, Haseeb Bakhtary, Lead Consultant at Climate Focus and Bianca Maria Galatanu, UN Policy Officer at ProVeg.
