A report on the benefits to Brazilian farmers of transitioning from livestock farming to plant-based agroforestry will be launched at a roundtable event (in Brazilian Portuguese) in the Agrizone of COP30 in Belém on Friday, 14 November from 2pm to 3pm local time.
The report is called “Increasing Income, Respecting the Planet, Nourishing People: Promoting the Transition from Livestock Farming to Plant-Based Agroforestry.” It presents unprecedented research on the benefits of this transition, especially in terms of climate impact and increased income for small farmers.
Participants in the roundtable, led by ProVeg Brazil director Aline Baroni, will discuss the importance of plant-based agriculture, family farming, and agroecology in combating climate change, promoting rural development, and ensuring the right to healthy and sustainable food.
