Young people will speak at the UN Summit on the need for more climate-friendly food production

Young people from around the world will be speaking on the importance of making the food system healthier and more sustainable at this year’s UN climate summit, COP30, which takes place in Belém, Brazil.
The event, called “Feeding the Future: Youth Perspectives on Agriculture, Climate and COP30”, will be held on Wednesday, 12th November between 9.45am and 10.25am local time at the Children and Youth Pavilion in the Blue Zone.
The event has been organized by YPARD, an international movement for young professionals in agricultural development.
Speakers include Bianca Maria Galatanu, from ProVeg International, who will be talking about key demands from young people for plant-rich food systems, with input from the ProVeg Youth Board on important policy changes needed for the transition to plant-rich food systems..
ProVeg also has a strong presence on the ground at COP30 promoting the Belém Declaration on Plant-Rich Diets. The Declaration encourages UN Member States to draw up comprehensive plans to promote the production and consumption of more plant-based food for the benefit of the climate, the environment, people’s health and food security.
