With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to get creative with some frighteningly delicious snacks. Whether you’re hosting a party or are just looking for some fun, kid-friendly goodies to hand out to trick-or-treaters, we’ve put together a list of scarily-good ideas that are all 100% plant-based. No tricks here though, just tasty treats suitable for all your friends and family.

To get you in a spooky mood, here’s a quick video showcasing some of our favourite Halloween recipe ideas.

A bowl of salsa is surrounded by ghost-shaped tortilla chips on a wooden surface, with parsley garnish on the salsa. In the background, a carved pumpkin and lit candle set a festive Halloween mood—perfect for plant-based recipes and UK dishes.

Ghost tortilla crisps

Light, crispy, and perfect for dipping into salsa or guacamole, these ghost-shaped tortilla crisps are an easy but effective way to add some spooky flair to your snack table.

  • Use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes from a few tortilla wraps.
  • Arrange the cutouts on a lined baking tray and lightly brush them with a little oil.
  • Bake at 180°C (gas mark 4) for about 8-10 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve with a fresh tomato salsa, guacamole, or a spicy black bean dip – or all three!
A plate of Oreo cookies made to look like spiders, with candy eyes and pretzel sticks as legs, sits on a table decorated with a plush frog, small pumpkin, and candle—perfect for adding fun to your plant-based recipes or UK dishes this Halloween.

Oreo spiders

These creepy-crawly biscuits are a Halloween classic, and they’re incredibly easy to make. Plus, they feature that reliably addictive  ‘accidentally vegan’ snack – Oreos!

  • Carefully twist open each Oreo (double-stuffed work best).
  • Break pretzel sticks in half and stick four of them into the creamy filling on one side to create eight legs.
  • Place the Oreo top back on and use a dab of melted plant-based chocolate to glue on edible eyes. You can also use a small dot of icing.
A plate of banana halves on sticks decorated as ghosts with chocolate and candy eyes, set on parchment paper. This fun plant-based recipe is perfect for Halloween, with candles, a pumpkin, and other spooky UK dishes in the background.

Banana ghosts

This treat is a healthy and fun alternative to sweets. All you need are a few simple ingredients to create these adorable, ghostly treats on a stick.

  • Peel the bananas and cut them in half. Insert a lollipop stick into the flat end of each half.
  • Melt some plant-based chocolate in a bowl. For a lower-sugar option, use plant-based yoghurt .
  • Dip each banana half into the melted chocolate or yoghurt until fully coated.
  • Place the ‘ghosts’ on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate until the coating is set.
  • Use a toothpick to draw on ghost faces with a little bit of melted plant-based dark chocolate (or white chocolate if you used dark chocolate to coat them).
Four hot dogs wrapped in dough to look like mummies, each with candy eyes, are arranged on a brown plate. Perfect for those seeking fun plant-based recipes, a red plastic ketchup bottle is visible at the top of the image.

Mummy wrap hot-dogs

These spooky hot dogs are a fun, savoury treat that looks impressive but are incredibly simple to make. They’re perfect for a Halloween buffet.

  • Cut a sheet of ready-made plant-based puff pastry into long, thin strips (about 1 cm wide).
  • Wrap the pastry strips around each vegan hot dog, starting from the bottom and working your way up, leaving a small gap at the top for the ‘face’.
  • Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 200°C (gas mark 6) for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed up.
  • Once cooled slightly, use a small dab of ketchup or mustard to create two eyes in the gap you left.
Peeled mandarins arranged on a white plate to look like mini pumpkins, each topped with celery as a stem—a fun plant-based recipe idea. The plate sits on a black and white checkered tablecloth.

Healthy baby pumpkins

These cute little pumpkins are the perfect healthy alternative to Halloween candy. They’re a great no-fuss option and a brilliant way to get some fruit onto the party table.

  • Carefully peel several mandarin oranges.
  • Cut a few celery sticks into small, short pieces (about 2-3 cm).
  • Push a celery piece into the top centre of each peeled mandarin to create the ‘pumpkin’ stem.
  • Alternative: You can also use a small piece of a pretzel stick or cucumber instead of celery.
Slices of red apple are sandwiched with peanut butter and mini marshmallows to look like smiling mouths with teeth, arranged on a wooden board—a fun addition to any plant-based recipes collection. A knife with peanut butter is in the foreground.

Spooky apple mouths

These apple bites are a simple and healthy treat that look like they’re ready to take a bite out of you! They’re a perfect sweet snack for your Halloween get-together.

  • Slice a few red apples into thin wedges.
  • Spread a thin layer of peanut butter or sunflower-seed butter on one side of each of the wedges.
  • Arrange the wedges to look like an open mouth, then place mini vegan marshmallows inside for the ‘teeth’.
  • Healthy alternative: for a less sugary option, you can use almond slivers or sunflower seeds as teeth instead. And for a non-vegan option that’s sure to scare the kids, why not use some of those real human teeth that you’ve saved up over the years.
A flour tortilla cut into a jack-o’-lantern shape, placed on a baking sheet with shredded cheese inside, creates a Halloween-themed quesadilla—perfect for adding fun to plant-based recipes or creative UK dishes.

Cheesy pumpkin tortillas

Turn a simple quesadilla into a festive pumpkin with this fun idea. It’s a great savoury option that’s quick to make for a party.

  • Use a knife to cut a large pumpkin shape out of two tortillas. Then cut out a pumpkin face on one of the tortillas.
  • Sprinkle the bottom tortilla with your favourite plant-based grated cheddar cheese and place the tortilla with the cut-out face on top.
  • Heat in a frying pan until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are golden brown and crispy.

Happy Halloween! We hope these spooky, plant-based recipes have inspired you to get creative in the kitchen this October. Enjoy the spooky season and have a frightfully good time!
