The German branch of food awareness organization ProVeg International has taken over the business management of vegconomist, the leading B2B portal for the plant-based and cultivated food sectors. By providing a robust financial foundation for the platform, ProVeg ensures that vegconomist will continue its operations. “To achieve a diverse and sustainable food system, the alternative protein sector requires a trusted market observer to deliver dependable and independent reporting as it enters its next stage,” emphasizes Matthias Rohra, Managing Director of ProVeg in Germany. “With Vera Oswald at the editorial helm, vegconomist will remain dedicated to this journalistic mission.”
Under the editorial lead of Vera Oswald, who has shaped the platform’s direction since 2023 and most recently served as co-Managing Director alongside founder Peter Link, the editorial focus and the suite of products will stay loyal to the established tradition. “The core direction and portfolio remain unchanged,” Oswald points out. “vegconomist will continue to provide up-to-date and independent B2B news from the alternative protein industry, reporting on plant-based and cultivated innovations, as our readers have come to expect.”
The vegconomist portfolio includes a German and an English-language edition, as well as the spin-off Cultivated X, which focuses on cellular agriculture and cultivated products. Additionally, the platform provides industry updates through a newsletter and LinkedIn.
Together with their seasoned team, Peter Link and Vera Oswald have grown the portal into an international brand over the last eight years. “Peter Link helped establish vegconomist as a central B2B portal when the industry was still in its infancy. He deserves our utmost gratitude for his immense dedication over the years,” states ProVeg Managing Director Rohra. Peter Link, who is stepping down from the business, explains: “This project has always been very close to my heart. I am confident that with ProVeg, we have exactly the competent partner by our side to steer vegconomist successfully into the future.”
