Ten startups from Canada to Indonesia are preparing to face investors on 18 September with plant-based food products developed to make the food system more sustainable.
The Demo Day is being run by ProVeg Incubator, which provides support to startups to accelerate plant-based products to the market. The companies are part of the 13th cohort taking part in the Incubator programme, and receive advice on everything from product development and regulatory approval, to branding and go-to-market strategies.
“The Demo Day brings together an exciting group of companies seeking investment for products that are truly game-changing,” Antje Räuscher, Head of ProVeg Incubator, said.
“Companies like these are the enterprises that need to be supported if we are to create a healthier and more sustainable food system,” she said.
Demo Day will be a hybrid event, offering both an invite-only in-person experience and an accessible online component, starting at 15:30 CEST. Free tickets can be secured by signing up to the event on Eventbrite.
Those who attend will hear from leading investors, network with industry leaders, vote for their favourite startups and ask questions to gain deeper insight into the innovations.
The startups presenting their products are as follows:
MycoVibes Biotech (Poland): Biomass-fermented mycoproteins for meat alternatives.
Updairy (Brazil and Singapore): Whey protein produced through precision fermentation using filamentous fungi.
Freundeskreis (Austria): Plant-based cheese alternatives made from upcycled apricot kernels.
Profillet (Canada): Plant-based white fish.
Planeat (Poland): Plant-based seafood & meats.
Mindful FÜD (Canada): Plant-based honey alternative.
Meatless Kingdom (Indonesia): Plant-based Indonesian-style meat alternatives.
KaYama Foods (Israel): Plant-based fat ingredient.

Brew Bites (Germany): Upcycled plant-based protein chunks.
Food-tech investors and corporate innovators
The pitches will be presented to a global audience, including influential food-tech investors, seasoned entrepreneurs as well as corporate innovators.
Beyond this network, each startup will engage with a jury of industry experts. The panel will offer feedback and challenge the founders on crucial aspects, from the strength of their founding team and the uniqueness of their value proposition to the technical intricacies that secure their market position and the compelling data demonstrating existing demand for their innovations.
