Plant-based diets as part of national food policy: the Czech challenge & the Danish reality
While in the Czech Republic the promotion of plant-based diets is still on the margins of political interest, Denmark has made this issue a legitimate part of its food policy. Louise Johansen, Head of Programmes at the Vegetarian Society of Denmark, will present the background to the Danish Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods, which has become an inspiration at European level. How did they manage to build cross-sectoral support, including cooperation with the agricultural sector? How to engage a conservative government and depoliticise the issue of plant-based diets? And what are the benefits of the Plant-Based Food Grant, but also the challenges Denmark still faces? You will hear first-hand what a plant-based diplomacy strategy looks like and how it can be used in the Czech context.
