Sweet and sticky tofu

This sweet and sticky tofu is guaranteed to win over any tofu sceptic—or anyone craving a fresh, flavour-packed meal! With its irresistible sweet and subtly spicy glaze, this dish might just become your new go-to.

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 400 g
    Extra firm tofu, drained, pressed and chopped into cubes
  • 1
    Garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 thumb
    Ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp
    Oil
  • 2 tbsp
    Soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tbsp
    Maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp
    Sriracha
  • 1 tbsp
    Corn flour

To serve:

  • 1 tbsp
    Sesame seeds
  • 1
    Spring onion, chopped
  • 1 handful
    Coriander, chopped
  • ½
    Lime, juice of
  • Rice
  • Broccoli

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water (use a tofu press or place it between two plates with heavy cookbooks on top).

  2. Mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl, whisking the cornstarch well.

  3. Once the tofu is firm, chop it into cubes and add it to the marinade. Let it marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

  4. After marinating, heat some oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the tofu, leaving the leftover marinade for later.

  5. Fry the tofu for 10-15 minutes, until golden and sticky. Once cooked, mix in the remaining marinade for extra stickiness and toss with sesame seeds.

  6. Serve the tofu on a bed of rice, a side of broccoli and topped with coriander, spring onions, and a squeeze of lime. Enjoy!
