Empowering future innovators: 2024 Food Innovation Challenge launches

ProVeg’s Food Innovation Challenge, now in its fifth year, empowers students to tackle pressing global food challenges with creative solutions, while gaining valuable insights into the rapidly growing plant-based food industry. This year’s challenge emphasizes global collaboration, inviting students from around the world to team up with peers from Asia.

The 2024 edition of the Challenge attracted applications from 1,350 students across 20 countries, highlighting its growing international appeal. To kick things off, ProVeg Asia hosted a training webinar titled ‘Transform Your Idea Into a Winning Concept’, which was attended by over 130 participants from across Asia. The session, moderated by Shirley Lu, featured expert speakers from leading companies such as Beyond Meat, Mars Wrigley China, and Unilever

14 finalists have been selected for this year’s edition of the challenge. Hailing from China, Vietnam, and Singapore, among other countries, the diverse proposals include an octopus alternative, based on microalgae proteins and plant-based polysaccharides

Your generous support makes this initiative possible, empowering the next generation of innovators to create sustainable solutions for our food systems. Stay tuned for the announcement of the winners in January 2025, a testament to the impact of your contributions.
