Served with pride: plant-based recipes by Queer creators

To celebrate Pride Month, we showcase some favourite recipes by Queer content creators who embrace a plant-based lifestyle. We have collected five innovative and mouth-watering dishes you absolutely won’t want to miss.

Oyster mushroom ‘scallops’ by @zaccharybird

Zacchary Bird, the acclaimed author of ‘Vegan Junk Food’, ‘The Vegan Butcher’, and ‘The Vegan Baker’, is a bisexual writer and vegan recipe developer based in Melbourne, Australia. He is celebrated for his incredible stacked burgers, as well as his humorous and relatable videos on veganism and travel. You can explore his complete recipe database here, but we were particularly captivated by his succulent oyster mushroom ‘scallops’ with creamy sauce pasta – the perfect inspiration for a mid-week treat or a date night!

Swedish vegan meatballs by @thegayveganchef

Bryce James McLure, widely known as The Gay Vegan Chef, was born in the Midwest and is based in Los Angeles. As his handle suggests, Bryce is an openly gay content creator who crafts original, wholesome, and imaginative recipes that he shares with his expanding social media audience. He also ensures his followers are well-informed about plant-based events and news within the LA area, so keep an eye on his page if you live nearby.

His recipes range from indulgent vegan broccoli-cheddar mac, to moreish crispy tofu croutons, alongside an array of delightful vegetable side dishes. We have selected his Swedish meatballs as a must-try recipe – they’re making us drool at the thought of them. Find the recipe here.

Roasted chilli garlic broccoli with sesame sauce by @euphoricvegan

Cassidy is a queer nutritionist, and the voice behind the popular blog, Euphoric Vegan, established in 2013. Based in London, she works as a food development manager for a plant-based start-up. Cassidy’s recipes, often inspired by her extensive travels, are designed to nourish the mind, body, and soul. She believes food is essential for well-being and is a daily celebration, and she aims to empower others to embrace wholesome, plant-based eating.

You can find all her recipes here, but we particularly love Cassidy’s healthy and nutritious side dishes. Why not try her brilliant chilli garlic broccoli with sesame sauce – it’s the perfect spicy, tangy, and nutty side dish for a pan-Asian small-plates feast.

A key focus of Brita’s work is to help people effortlessly incorporate more vegetables into their daily diets. She’s passionate about tofu, and teaches you how to transform it into delicious and approachable dishes.
