Plant-based shawarma made from oyster mushrooms is a real veggie classic, which might even be tastier than the original! Do not believe it? Then try it yourself 😉

  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Servings: 4
  • 150 g
    oyster mushrooms
  • 2 tsp
    shawarma spice mix
  • 4
    Lebanese flatbreads
  • 50 g
    lettuce roughly cut
  • 250 g
    cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1/2
    cucumber in half slices
  • 1
(pickled) red onion in thin slices
  • (plant-based) garlic sauce as desired
  • sambal as desired

Instructions

  1. Tear the oyster mushrooms into strips by hand. Heat some oil over high heat in a sauté pan and fry the oyster mushrooms in it, for about 4-5 minutes. Then add the shawarma spices and fry for another 2-3 minutes.

  2. Prepare the Lebanese flatbreads by heating them briefly in a dry frying pan.

  3. Distribute the lettuce, oyster mushroom shawarma, tomatoes, cucumber and (pickled) red onion over the flatbreads. Finish it off with garlic sauce and sambal and roll them up! Enjoy 😉
